Tóm tắt The study of the transitivity of English and Chinese middle verbs should have to do with a contrastive analysis of the transitivity of verbs in other constructions and in the middle construc¬tion. Prototypical middle verbs are transitive before entering the middle construction and become derived intransitives there as a result of the interaction between the verb and the constructional meaning. A proper understanding of the semantics of middle constructions and a clear distinction between middles and other constructions such as ergatives are largely dependent upon the study of the derived intransitive nature of middle verbs.
Tóm tắt 对英汉中动词及物性的研究，需要考虑该动词在其他构式中的及物性及其在中动构式中的及物性，典型的英汉中动词在没有进入中动构式之前一般是及物动词，而进入中动构式以后在中动构式义的压制下变成了派生的不及物动词。我们认为，把中动构式中的动词确定为派生的不及物动词，对正确理解中动构式、区分中动与作格等构式有着重要意义。
