Tóm tắt The present article discusses the mental time and its textual representations in English.Tense in English is an obligatory feature expressing time relations.Along with its syntactic constraints and functions,it conveys continuity in Narratives,anaphora in Descriptives and deixis in Reports. These modes of time-development in different genres of texts reveal the tensed thought with rich time-relations that dominate the mental time of English-speakers and the English trait of temporality.
Tóm tắt 本文从语篇层面讨论英语时制的时间结构及其表征。英语时制是一个表示时间关系的强制性句法特征;在篇章层面,它不仅编码了每个小句内部的三种时间关系,而且在不同语篇类型中起着不同的语篇功能。叙述文中的时制传递连贯性功能,描写文中的时制具有照应性功能,报道类语篇中的时制则具有指称性功能。时制所表现出的这种多样化时间关系和语篇功能是英语时制思维和时间性特质的反映。
