Tóm tắt This paper attempts to provide a minimalist account of the English causative constructions(ECCs).It is proposed that the unacceptability of ECCs is due to either of the two mechanisms:(a)The Syntactic Mechanism,according to which,an ECC will be unacceptable if its syntactic derivation cannot converge;(b)The Syntax-external Interface Mechanism,according to which,an ECC will be unacceptable if the semantics derived by syntactic computation is not compatible with the real world knowledge at the Conceptual-Intentional(C-I)interface.Our analysis provides fairly sufficient evidence that the widely adopted syntactic assumptions,i.e.event decomposition and abstract causative predicates,should be dispensed with in syntactic encoding.
Tóm tắt 本文基于最简方案的基本精神对英语致使结构做出系统解释。本文认为两类机制可能导致英语致使结构不被接受:(a)句法机制,即致使结构的句法推导无法完成;(b)句法外的界面机制,即在"概念-意向"界面,句法运算获得的语义与现实世界知识不兼容。本文的研究也提供了较为充分的证据,表明主流研究中广泛采纳的"事体分解"与"抽象致使谓词"都不该纳入句法结构中。
