Tóm tắt 在东亚思想史上,西周与严复的角色具有一定的相似性。在近代东亚知识体系的转型过程中,二者在积极译介西方近代诸学说之际,均未全盘舍弃儒家文化。非但如此,二者不约而同地在自身的东亚传统学问背景下有意识或无意识地对西方学说进行了选择性书写。在学问观方面,西周与严复皆认为西方诸学说的优越性在于其具备体系性,但二者的理解也存在差异,前者强调知识体系由"诸学"构成,而后者则将该体系置于一"学"之名下。在道德观方面,西周认为要保证个人追逐私利的同时兼顾道德规范,必须依靠对"主宰(天、上帝)"的"信"来实现;而严复则认为,道德的基础由人类的"利己性"奠定,除此以外不需要任何形式的、具有超然性质的事物。
Tóm tắt In the intellectual history of East Asia,there are some similarities between the roles played by Nishi Amane and Yan Fu.In the process of transition to modern knowledge systems in East Asia,both of them actively introduced modern Western theories,yet without rejecting Confucian culture completely.Coincidentally,both selectively wrote about Western theories,consciously or unconsciously,against the background of their own traditional East Asian knowledge.Both considered Western theories superior for their being systematic.However,there are also differences in their understanding:Nishi Amane emphasized that the system of knowledge was constituted by"all studies"
