Tóm tắt Syntactic complexity has been considered an important construct in L2 writing pedagogy and research,and the relationship of syntactic complexity to L2 proficiency,L2development and L2 writing quality has been investigated in numerous L2 writing studies.In this paper,we first briefly review developments and challenges in previous L2 writing syntactic complexity research;we then discuss the design principles and functions of L2 Syntactic Complexity Analyzer(L2SCA)and its applications in and contributions to recent L2 writing syntactic complexity research.Designed to automatically analyze the syntactic complexity of English writing samples using 14 different measures,L2 SCA effectively resolves the data analysis bottleneck in L2 writing syntactic complexity research and has led to significant advances in this research area.We conclude with a discussion of productive applications of L2 SCA in future L2 writing syntactic complexity research.
Tóm tắt 句法复杂度是二语写作教学与研究中的一个重要构念,它与二语学习者的语言水平、语言发展过程及写作质量之间的关系成为众多二语写作研究的重点。本文首先简要回顾国内外二语写作句法复杂度研究的进展及其面临的挑战,进而介绍二语句法复杂度分析器的设计原理和功能,及其在二语写作句法复杂度研究中的应用。该分析器可用十四种句法复杂度测量指标对英语写作样本进行自动分析,从而解决了句法复杂度研究中的数据分析瓶颈,有效推动了二语写作句法复杂度前沿研究。最后本文对其在二语写作句法复杂度未来研究中的应用前景进行展望。
