Tóm tắt The on-going globalization and internationalization processes in politics, economy and culture have brought about changes in the way English is used, thus leading to new topics of research into the English language. This paper concerns itself with the nonnativization process of English as a lingua franca (ELF). Specifically, it explores non-English native ELF speakers’ pragmatic competence and performance in communication in a multilingual and multicultural context, with a view to uncovering emerging pragmatic features that mark such exchanges of ideas. Based on the study, the paper holds that pragmatic incompetence and pragmatic deficiency are necessary topics for future research on the use of ELF. It also responds to the issue of how to improve English learners’ multi-competences and especially their pragmatic competence from a multi-contextual perspective.
Tóm tắt 英语研究日益关注多元语境下的语用特征。本文从英语作为世界通用语的角度,探讨在多语言及多文化语境中英语使用出现的语用特征,尤其是英语教学与学习等外语研究日益重视的多元语用现象及语用表现,发现较多现象有别于英语本族语单一语境下的语用问题。本研究可为我国的外语教学实践与研究提供新的思考。
