Tóm tắt On the basis of the literature review,this paper examines the internal syntactic structure of the construction do so and its implications on the projection of VPs in general.It is argued that doin the construction is an overt reflex of a light verb v,with so as the pro-form for its lexical VP complement.It is just so but not do so as a whole that replaces the lexical VP.It is further shown that do so is compatible with unaccusative antecedents,suggesting the inadequacy of the claim that special instances of the light verb do are in fact transitive v*.Empirical evidence is provided for the existence of both transitive light verb v*and intransitive light verb v.Such evidence for both v*and v projections is of great significance for claiming the universality of phrase structures.
Tóm tắt 本文在文献综述的基础上,探讨英语do so的内在句法结构及该结构对揭示所有动词组投射的意义。分析表明,在该结构中,do为轻动词v的显性表现形式,而so则是其词汇性VP补足语的替代式。替代VP的只是轻动词v的补足语so,而不是整个do so结构。Do so同样允许非宾格动词结构的先行成分,这说明之前有关轻动词do的各种实例实属及物性v*的认识有缺陷,同时也从经验上证明了不仅存在及物性轻动词v*,而且还存在不及物性轻动词v。能从经验上证明存在两种轻动词对词组结构的普遍性具有重要意义。
