Tóm tắt The"X de nazhong(X 的那种)"construction followed by apause in a flow of discourse has been proven idiomized.It is shown to have stemmed from "X-de nazhong NP"by omitting the modified nominal phrase,which,due to reanalysis,causes the modifier to be a modifier of a new element that bore no structural relationship with the modified element.It usually serves as a referential construction,profiling a subordinate category bearing the X-feature.Syntactically,the construction is mostly predicative,employed to emphasize the fact that the subject possesses the X-feature.Nazhong(那种)is co-referential with "Xde(X 的)",resulting in its becoming semantically superfluous and phonetically attenuated.This indicates that the construction is now under lexicalization,turning into a nominal meaning"kind".
