Tóm tắt The paper investigates the social identity of the appellation "Xiaojie "under the framework of social psycholinguistics. It is found that "Xiao Jie"is a preferred appellation in terms of social identity,which is different from common life experiences. It is argued that theappellation "Xiaojie " still plays an important role in thedaily communication and it will not be reduced toa replacement of "female sex workers".
