Tóm tắt Dans cette contribution, nous abordons l’activité interactionnelle de définition en nous focalisant sur l’imbrication des ressources de différentes natures – linguistiques, prosodiques, gestuelles et spatiales – que les participants mettent en jeu dans sa réalisation. Nous étudions la définition dans la visite guidée de deux jardins (un jardin ethnobotanique et un jardin « en mouvement »). Sur la base d’un fonctionnement récurrent observé, fondé sur les étapes successives de « mise en visibilité » d’un référent, « dénomination » et « définition », nous examinons les formats utilisés par les participants, en relation avec la temporalité de l’interaction et la nature du jardin. L’étude met en évidence comment les activités de définition transmettent la philosophie différente des deux jardins et offrent une appréhension bien différente du monde végétal.
Tóm tắt In this contribution, we approach the interactional activity of defining by focusing on the interweaving of the resources of various natures –linguistic, prosodic, gestural and spatial– which the participants use for it. We study definition in guided tours of two gardens (an ethnobotanic garden and a ‘garden in motion’). On the basis of an observed recurring functioning, based on the successive stages of ‘producting the visibility of a referent’, ‘giving its name’ and ‘defining’, we examine the formats used by the participants, in connection with the temporality of the interaction and the nature of the garden. The study highlights how the activity of defining conveys the specific philosophy of the two gardens and offers a very different apprehension of the vegetable world.
